Thanks for a Great Season

The 2012 season saw the largest boys team in JMM cross country history with 82 ninth through twelfth grade boys participating. This year our team depth was challenged with injuries and illness. Our team took some bumps along the road but saw many successes (especially at the JV level) which shows we are growing quality depth. Although we only had two athletes go under 17:00 this fall (one of which ended the season injured) we had thirteen athletes go under 18:00 (which is a team record). As we move forward as a program I look forward to seeing us grow our top end "elite" performers and continue to support these runners with our great depth. I wish the graduating seniors the best as they move forward in their running pursuits. I challenge the returning underclassmen to establish a goal for the 2013 season and make a plan to achieve this goal. I look forward to a very successful 2013 season.

2012 Highlights
Jonah W - 16:21 @ Grade Level Challenge
James A - 16:58 @ City Championships
10 Runners under 18:00 @ Big 8 Championships
JV1 2nd Place @ Big 8 Championships

2012 Results
Division 1 State Meet
Madison West Sectional
Big 8 Conference Meet (Var, JV1, JV2)

Team GPA - 3.535
For the third season in a row our team has exceeded our team goal for GPA (3.4 or higher) and was the third highest GPA in team history (top GPA was last year - 3.577)....KEEP WORKING HARD IN THE CLASSROOM!!! Our team has ELEVEN student athletes with a 4.0 GPA, who were joined by three other teammates for a perfect 4.0 GPA during the 1st quarter. 87.7% of our athletes met our individual goal of exceeding 3.0 for their cumulative GPA. Those athletes needing help in the classroom should ask a teammate, talk to their teachers, and get a tutor. There are many options available at Memorial if you take advantage of them. Keep up the great tradition of Memorial Distance Runners in the classroom.
