10/25/08 Sectionals @ Yahara

Conditions weren't great but we still came out and competed. Our team finished a very respectful 4th place in arguably the state's toughest sectional. The boys who ran on Saturday realized that we have a lot of work ahead of us to be one of the elite teams in the state but the great part about our Sectionals team is that 7 of the runners (6 competitors and 1 alternate) are underclassmen. Imagine what we can do next year with a whole of training and dedication towards our running. After last season ended we were not sure what this season would hold (we graduated 7 of our 10 sectional team members) but the team really came together this year to make the season a success. I hope that everyone enjoyed a fun and succesful cc season. Stay tuned for future success :)

10/18/08 Conference @ Pleasant View

What a strange day of weather? Frost delay, warm up in the fog, clear out and beautiful skies...got to love cross country in Wisconsin :) Saturday was the last meet for many runners and it was great to see the JV kids show up and really compete. We ran really well in the JV 2 and JV 1 race, with some kids even setting PR's on this challenging course. I was glad to see the kids run well and perform at or better than their PR's on a true cross country course (includes hills :) Our JV 2 kids started the day off with a third place team finish, B. Hall had a nice race with a top ten finish. In the JV 1 race, we followed up our performance with a 2nd place finish (we gave West the scare we wanted but it wasn't meant to be this year...next year). T. O'Keefe, P. Prabakaran, and R. Pedersen all scored top ten finishes!!! Last year we had the JV2 individual champion, this year we had the JV1 individual champions, next year....? Our varsity competed again against some of the toughest competition in the state. We were hoping for a top 4 finish but had to settle for 5th place. We learned the importance again of every runner as we tied with Middleton and East but J. Hayes came through as the top # 6 runner for those three teams leaving us in 5th place. The varsity gets another race on Saturday to compete against many of these teams and try to earn a berth to state...so one more week of fast times and a chance to get all 7 guys to have a good race on the same day. Overall, conference was a great success and the JMM program looks prepared to storm the Big 8 Conference next year with multiple individual and team conference titles!!!

10/10/08 City Championships

It was great to see our team come out and compete for a second week in a row. I really hope we can keep this momentum going into Conference because we will see some great results. Our JV started us off with an amazing race. B. Brasser stepped up to be a top 4 runner for us and we were beating West through 4 runners...we will need a fifth at conference but I could see us winning a conference championship if we all come to race. Also, some PRs were run on this tough course...Saturday will be even tougher but if we compete hard we will run fast times. In the varsity race, A. Heiliger earned All-City Honorable Mention with his 9th place finish and J. Bent is really rounding into shape at the right time. It is hard to race tough, when competing against the #2 and #3 teams in the state but I think we represented our #15 ranking very nicely. We will need to have a better overall team performance at Conference to place well as a team, but I know we are more than capable of holding our own in Big Eight.

10/04/08 Stoughton Invite

GREAT TEAM EFFORT! It is amazing to see what our team is capable of when we are focused and ready to compete. This Saturday showed me and the rest of the state alot about our program. We looked great throughout the entire team with many PRs run on Saturday. The weather was perfect and so was our mental state of mind. Congrats to the varsity with its third place finish (to the #1 and #4 teams in the state) and to our junior varsity with its second place finish (beating all the city teams except West (they weren't at this meet)). It sets up for a great finish to our season. Stay focused as the end is near and great things will happen :)
